‘Pocketmar Rangmandal’ is bitter truth of artists’ life

Natyansh Society of Dramatic and Performing Arts presented second show of play ‘Pocketmar Rangmandal’ at Natyansh Workplace, Sadri Haveli on 11 August 2019.  Through the play, the actors showed how a person connected to art is protected from evil and crime. The story of the play revolved around a character named Bhagwan, a pick pocket who once goes to see a play chasing a victim, impressed by the play he left the criminal world and became an artist. Then, working with different directors of the drama, he became proficient in the drama but he was always ignored and never given a character he deserves because of his past. He then formed his own group “Pocketmar Rangmandal’ but even after forming the group, his struggle does not end and he does not get the actors. He took people from his community, pick pocket, and prepared them for drama by bringing the thieves on the right path. But he does not get a hall to stage the play. One auditorium agreed to give hall in double amount that to be in advance.  To arrange money for the hall, Bhangwan was forced to adopt his occupation but this time he was caught Poilce. Coincidently, the Police Inspector comes out to be a theatre lover and bought the tickets for the play. Bhagwan gave this money to the hall manager who was taking the double fare of the hall and at the end of the play he called manager and people like him a  real ‘Pocketmar’ who looted common men.  

This play is written by well known playwright Shri Asghar Wajahat and directed by Rekha Sisodia. The actors who played different roles were Amit Shrimali as Bhagwan, Chakshu Singh Rupawat as Munna Tyagi, Piyush Gurunani as Lalu, Raghav Gurjargour as Veera, Isha Jain as Nasreen, Rekha Sisodia as Abda Amma, Mahesh Joshi as Manager, Agatsya Hardik Nagda as Inspector Dharmapal, Harshul Pandya and Anshul Paliwal as Sainik. Back stage management was handled by Saloni Patel, Jatin Solanki, Niti Sharma. Ashfaq Noor Khan Pathan designed and operated lights, Mohammed Rizwan played music and makeup, and costumes were done by Yogeeta Sisodia.

At the end of the program, Mr. Ashfaq Noor Khan Pathan, (President – Natyansh), gave vote of thanks thanked to all the theater-loving audiences who attended the theatrical evening and informed them about the future theater performances. He also gave best wishes of Eid-ul-Adha to all the actors and the audience.
